Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

The unplugged version of this song from the upcoming movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is done by the talented trio of Kailash Kher, Paresh and Naresh. Although the Atif Aslam version is equally good, guitar enthusiasts will enjoy the unplugged version more. It is a beautiful song with deep and long lyrics. Kailash Kher has sung it exceptionally well.

The song is in the key of A major. Some of the chords used here are similar to the song Kahin To, from Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na which was in the scale of A#. You will need to master barre chords to be able to play this song.

Thanx to my old time friend for bringing this song to my attention and to all those who had requested this song.

The strumming pattern is simple but will require some practice. Following are the two strumming patterns:

Strumming Pattern 1 Strumming Pattern 2
| 1 & 2 & | 3 & 4e&a |
| D - D U | D - D-D- |
| 1 & 2 & | 3e&a4e&a |
| D - D U | DUDUD-DU |

To understand above strumming pattern, check this lesson:

    | : denotes a beginning and end of a bar
1,2,3,4 : denotes Quarter notes of a bar
& : Eighth notes of the bar
    e,a : 16th notes of the bar

just try tapping your foot to the song. Each tap will MOST PROBABLY represent a quarter note. Although this is no hard n fast rule. Try strumming down with each tap n then when u get a hang of it try entire strumming. To understand the Pattern well and to learn to read more complex strumming pattern i suggest u learn to play basic 4×4 drumming..

Thanx for suggesting. I tried Bmaj but Bmin sounds more appropriate. Bmaj is anyway out of scale.

Hey abhinav m aware dat u have been doin a wonderfulful job for guitarists who want to play hindi songs, hats off to u yaar……..But I found some kinda fault in this song………as in I’d like to recommend the song in Gmajor scale whereas the above is in Amajor…….then the chords will be as following Gmajor,Dmajor,Cmajor and Dmajor for the chorus and the antara as well……Just have a thought abt my suggestion n apply it over this page as soon as possible if u agree with me……Thanks a lot….

This song is the Kailash Kher version which is in A scale. Just play the A chord the moment Kailash Kher starts singing and you will realize it. You can play in Gmaj scale if you find a singer whose voice matches it.

    Hi Abhinav

I have regularly following your site and comments which keeps getting posted.
Though I have taken guitar classes, I find your site very useful to help me with my homework :) .

Just one thing, I have seen your guitar tutorials at
    http://www.abhinavsonkar.com/2009/06/07/starting-to-learn-guitar-chords-practice-basic-open-chords-first/

but the chords like C#m, C#maj, B7, etc are missing, can you please add them and provide me the link.. this will really help beginners like us… I can find them on net but the way you have explained and shown is much much simpler.

    Please help.
    Thanks in advance !!
