Wake Up Sid

Some songs can be so beautiful and so touching that you can feel the beats vibrating your hair follicles! As I am understanding music bit by bit with every song, I realize one fact that the greatest of the songs are composed with some of the basic chords that you might have been playing since long. It is the innovativeness and the skill of the musician which makes the song sound so wonderful.

Yesterday, I watched the movie Wake Up Sid. Very cool movie, a must-watch for every youngster as it touches many aspects of life, the most important being having a soul mate to enjoy the journey of life as you accomplish your goals.

The song uses basic open chords, and the strumming pattern is also simple, though it would require some practice for beginners. There are 2 strumming patterns with slight variation:

Strumming Pattern 1
| D | D- -D | UDU- | D |

Strumming Pattern 2
| D-U- | D- -D | UDU- | D |

Starting tune… Play chords (G) and (C)

MUKHDA

Use strumming pattern 2…

(G)O re manwa tu to baw(C)ra hai
(G)Tu hi jane tu kya soch(C)ta hai
(G)Tu hi jane tu kya soch(C)ta hai bawre
kyu (G)dikhaye sapne tu sote-(C)jagte

jo (G)barse sapne boond-boond, (Stop strumming!)
(C)naino ko moond-moond (Start strumming!)
hmmm (C)naino ko moond-moond…

jo (G)barse sapne boond-boond,
(C)naino ko moond-moond
(G)kaise main chalu dekh na saku(D) (Stop strumming!)
anjane raaste..

CHORUS

Use strumming pattern 1…

(G)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara,
(G)gunja sa hai koi iktara
(Am)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara
(C)gunja sa hai koi iktara

(G)dheeme bole koi iktara-iktara
(G)dheeme bole koi iktara
(Am)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara
(C)gunja sa hai koi iktara

(G) .. (G) .. (Am) .. (C)

ANTRA

(G)sun rahi hu sudh-budh kho ke
(G)koi main kahani …
(Am)puri kahani hai kya
(C)kise hai pata …

(G)main to kisiki ho ke
(G)ye bhi na jaani …
(Am)rut hai ye do pal ki ya
(C)rahegi sada …

(F)kise hai pata … (G)kise hai pata

Use strumming pattern 2…

jo (G)barse sapne boond-boond, (Stop strumming!)
(C)naino ko moond-moond (Start strumming!)
hmmm (C)naino ko moond-moond…

jo (G)barse sapne boond-boond,
(C)naino ko moond-moond
(G)kaise main chalu dekh na saku(D) (Stop strumming!)
anjane raaste..

(G)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara,
(G)gunja sa hai koi iktara
(Am)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara
(C)gunja sa hai koi iktara

(G)dheeme bole koi iktara-iktara
(G)dheeme bole koi iktara
(Am)gunja sa hai koi iktara-iktara
(C)gunja sa hai koi iktara

    Hey !
I think these are chords are not exactly right… there are a lot of Em in the song…
For example… The songs starts with Em… not G..
Try figuring out the chords by listening to the song correctly.
    Cheers ! :)
