Guitar Chords: Tune Jo Na Kaha, New York [2009]

Tune Jo Na Kaha Main Wo Sunta Raha - New York

Oh what a beautiful song it is !! The melancholic music of the song comes out subtly in the use of minor chords in the root notes. Mohit Chauhan has sung it very well.

Though the song can be related very easily to other such sad songs, it still succeeds in bringing a refreshing appeal to the listener.

The chords used in the song are simply F, C, A# and Dm. Though it can be played with open chords, I prefer to play it with barre chords.

Guitar Chords: Khuda Ke Liye, Runway

Khuda Ke Liye, Runway

This song, Khuda Ke Liye from the movie Runway, has been buzzing in my ear from the moment I first heard it on television. Its a beautiful melody with soft guitar arpeggios in the background. Moreover, I love the lyrics of the song: simple yet profound.

I would suggest that before trying to play this song, listen to it with your headphones until the feel of it sinks in. The song uses intermediate-level chords so you need to have a good hands with the chords to be able to play this song. There is no fixed strumming, plucking the notes of each chord is a better way of playing the song than just hitting the chord.

BlogCamp – An (un)conference of bloggers all over India, is having it’s second flavor in Pune this weekend on 27th June. It is expected to be a big and exciting event for all the bloggers. I believe it would be a great place to network with other bloggers on a more physical level than just over the net.

This is the first time I would be attending the BlogCamp event, so I am pretty excited about it. I have been blogging for over an year now. Through this meet, I hope to know more about other fellow Indian bloggers and interact with them.

This does not mean that only bloggers are allowed to attend the event. If you are interested in blogging / web publishing and want guidance from experts in starting your blog, there can be no better way than to attend this event. It would clear lots of doubts that people have regarding blogging and will inspire you to jump the bandwagon and be a part of the next revolution!

I would recommend you to come to the event to experience the world of blogging. Sign up here for the event. It’s absolutely free!

Are Chords Tougher to Learn Than Scales? [POLL RESULTS]

Posted by | June 20, 2009 .

Last month, I ran a poll on the blog asking my readers what technique did they find tough to learn on the guitar?

The results are very interesting. Overview suggests that readers found Chords to be tougher to learn than Scales.

Personally, I was able to learn the chords quite naturally and without much conscious effort other than regular practice. But it depends on a lot of factors. Some people have a better understanding of rhythms than others; this makes learning chords very easy because strumming is an essential part of playing chords. Similarly, flexible fingers can help you play the scales easily. This is the reason why the poll result is almost equally distributed in favor of Chords and Scales.

Guitar Chords: Hai Junoon, New York [Movie]

Hai Junoon - New York

This is an excellent song with very simple basic music which any beginner guitarist can play. The song uses suspended versions of D chord just like in the song Summer of 69.

Nothing much to say about the guitar part. It’s pretty straight-forward. Again, this song was brought to my notice by a very special friend of mine who has been instrumental in keeping me informed about new songs which are based on guitar at the right time. Thanx dear!

So, you are able to play the Basic Open Chords very well. Not just the easy ones like D, E or C chord but even the tougher ones like G and F chord too.

But what about moving from one chord to another? Suddenly you stop your right hand, focus on the left hand, place the fingers on the required frets and before you can strum your newly formed chord, the rhythm has already gone for a toss!

Frustrating, isn’t it?
