Which Guitar Technique did you Find Most Difficult to Learn? [POLL]

With the results of last poll out, it is time for the next poll!

Through this poll we are trying to find out what technique do students find more difficult while starting out with a guitar?

Is it chords, which require memorizing certain finger patterns and being able to change from one pattern to the another subconsciously.

Or is it tabs / leads which require dexterity of fingers so that it moves smoothly among the frets?

Guitar Chords: Jai Ho, Slumdog Millionaire – A Salute to A R Rahman

Well, what can I say about this one? It is an Oscar winning Indian song after all. And who else could have done it for India other than A R Rahman? I have praised him a lot in my earlier posts as well. But now through this blog, I would like to salute him. He is in his own league. His understanding of music coupled with consistent variety is simply unparalleled.

But I would like to say something more. If this song can bring India its first Oscar, some of his previous songs from Rang De Basanti and other hits, including the marvelous movie Roja can bring the Oscar to its knees. A R Rahman has been giving out gems after gems since long and finally this song has given him the accolades and stature he rightfully deserves. After all this, I wonder what next Mr. Rahman?

Acoustic Guitar Rules Over Electric [Poll Results]

Last Month, I ran a poll asking my readers about their favorite guitar type.

The results are quite interesting and it really heartened me to see that people still prefer to start learning guitar with an acoustic version rather than an electric one.

Acoustic Guitar clearly dominated with 254 of the 411 people opting for acoustic while 63 people chose electric guitar. 82 people are good with both acoustic as well as electric which is a positive sign.

What a beautiful song this is! I especially enjoy the lyrics of the song. The song is based on simple chords and a basic strumming pattern is enough. Since I was getting a lot of request to put up this song, I have added it here. This song is good for beginners to practice chords.

Guitar Chords: Yeh Zindagi Bhi, Luck By Chance

Farhan Akhtar showcased his talent once again with his superb acting and exquisite dancing as well.. though Hrithik is in a different league altogether. Most of the songs are just ok, but this song strikes you softly and I like to keep on hearing it again and again.The song uses some blues chords as well. Nice opportunity to learn some of them. The chords are listed at the end of the song.

Back to Regular Posting after Small Break

Well, not that small really. Four months of inactivity is quite significant for a blog, ain’t it?

I have been very busy with my first day job at Tech Mahindra. Being a fresher, I had to undergo training for 3 months which meant putting invisible chains and locks on this blog! What with classes during the day and practice through the night, it was impossible to update the blog on a regular basis. I came to know the meaning of hectic life during that time. But my training days have been amazing and it warrants a post of its own. Maybe I might think of writing on that sometime later…
